Former Bosnian Serb army commander, 96-year old Rat-trap Mladic, has finally gone on trial at the International Criminal Court in The Hague for war crimes – a mere 20 years after the conflict in Bosnia kicked off with a Yugoslavia-wide ‘National Genocide Week’.
This socio-political 'order into chaos' transition saw all sides bollocks deep in each other’s blood and guts as they competed for the coveted Balkans ‘Ethnic Cleansing’ and ‘Fiendish Atrocity’ awards which date back to the 12th Century Muslim incursions and the Battle of Kosovo in 1389 where Serbian monarch Stefan Lazar Hrebeljanovic and his First Team faced off on the infamous Field of Blackbirds against a motley crew of unwashed Ottomans led by Sultan Murat the First (aka the dirty Turk who invented work).
The fractious General Rat-face Mladic, who appeared in court wearing his habitual Camberwick Green souvenir military cap and looking like Captain Snort from Pippin Fort, faces numerous counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity, including rape and pillage, torture and genocide – plus accusations of being an all-round evil twat - in connection with the brutal 1992-95 Bosnian war – actions which earned him the notorious sobriquet of the Butcher of Srebrenica after he ordered all Bosniak and Croat prisoners to be tuned into cufte, cevapi and sudzuk (sausages) following the 1995 Serbian Synchronised Firing Squad Dance competition finals.
Mladic, known by the nom de guerre of ‘Ratty’ to friends and victims alike, is accused of orchestrating the massacre of more than 7,000 Muslims and Albanian swan roasters at Srebrenica in 1995. He is further charged with responsibility for the 44-month siege of Sarajevo during which more than 10,000 people died – an accusation he described to the court as ‘a right old crock of shit’ – claiming there were no more than five thousand – and demanded a plea of ‘not guilty by reasons of hyper-inflation’ be entered on his behalf.
Described by the Dutch prosecutor Fellattia van der Gamm as “A right nasty piece of work” and responsible for the worst atrocities in Europe since Hitler incited the Nazi Holohoax of World War Two, the pre-trial hearings have been viewed as a pantomime and characterised by ill-tempered outbursts from Ratty Mladic, who heckled the presiding Dutch Judge, Alphons Oriole, branding him as ‘Washington’s stooge’ and a ‘Zionist-bought dildo’.
The case has stirred up strong emotions, with prosecution witnesses shouting such derogatory and scandalous comments of ‘murderer’ and ‘baby-eater’ from the court gallery – yet while Ratty's critics might label him a barbaric homicidal maniac, to thousands of Serbs he’s a national hero and the best thing since sliced bread.
To wit, Ms Mingeeter Godermiche, director of the Serbian Nationalist website, slammed the entire trial as a smoke and mirrors travesty of justice which serves as a further example of Western hypocrisy and propaganda to portray the Balkan conflict as the fault of only one side - the Serbs - led by Harry ‘The Slob’ Milosevic and the much-maligned Ratty Mladic – both of whom they regard as ‘true patriots’.
